Refund policy
Version 2026-10-03 · Last updated: 3 October 2026
Rent is billed monthly in advance, and a month that has started is not refundable. You can cancel whenever you like and nothing renews — but we don't pay back part-months. The one exception is a material failure that is our fault, which we credit rather than ignore. This policy forms part of the terms of service.
1. The monthly cost is not refundable
Once a billing month has begun, the rent for that month is spent. That applies regardless of how much of the month you use, and it includes:
- changing your mind, or deciding bot trading isn't for you;
- time you didn't use because you were away or the account was idle;
- not making as much profit as you hoped, or making a loss;
- stopping early — your bot simply runs to the end of the period you paid for.
We price at a flat two keys a month precisely so there is nothing to argue about. There is no setup fee, no per-trade cut, no minimum term and no exit charge, and the trade-off for that is that a started month is final.
2. Cancelling
Cancel from the dashboard, or message us. Nothing is clawed back and nothing renews: the bot keeps running to the end of the month you have paid for, then stops and returns your items. You do not need to give a reason and you are not asked to.
If you want to come back later, you rent again like anyone else — there is no penalty for having left.
3. The one case where we pay out
If your bot is unavailable for a material period and the cause is ours, tell us and we will make it right. “Ours” means our hosting, our software or our mistake. The default remedy is service credit — the affected days added to the end of your rental — because that restores what you actually lost, which is trading time.
Where credit is no use to you, for example because you are leaving, we will refund the affected days in keys instead. We do not require you to argue for this; if the outage is on our side and we can see it, we would rather apply the credit before you ask.
4. What is not our fault
These are outside our control and are not refundable or creditable:
- Steam outages, maintenance, rate limits or trade holds;
- backpack.tf downtime, rate limits, listing caps or policy changes;
- action Valve takes against your Steam account, including bans and trade restrictions;
- market movement, item values falling, or trades that turn out badly;
- the bot being stopped because you changed the account's password or authenticator;
- a rental paused because payment failed, or ended because the terms were breached.
5. Withdraw your items first
Before a rental ends — whether you cancelled, or the month simply ran out — move your items out, or confirm the Steam account we should return them to. Your items are always yours and we never keep them, but an unpaid rental with stock still in it goes into a holding state in which you no longer have access to the bot and listed sales can still complete. Section 9 of the terms sets that out in full. Withdrawing in good time avoids it entirely.
6. How to ask
Open a ticket on the afk.tf Discord with the bot you rented and what went wrong. We'll acknowledge within 7 days and give you a reasoned answer within 30. Approved refunds are returned in Mann Co. Supply Crate Keys by Steam trade, or to the original payment method where you paid by card.
We don't refund anything bought from a third party on your behalf, such as backpack.tf premium — that money went to them, not to us.
7. If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA
You have a statutory 14-day right to withdraw from a distance contract, and nothing on this page removes it.
Because a rented bot is meant to start trading immediately, when you rent you are asking us to begin performing the service during that 14-day window, and you acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once the service has been fully performed. If you withdraw part-way through the first month, you pay for the proportion already supplied and we return the rest. After the first 14 days, section 1 applies.
This is also the point of section 2: you can stop at any time, and the most you are ever exposed to is the month you are currently in.
8. Chargebacks
If you think a charge is wrong, raise it with us — we would far rather fix it directly. Opening a chargeback or payment dispute without contacting us first breaches the terms and we may suspend the rental while it is resolved. Your items are still returned to you in that situation; items are never held as security for money.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. The version in force when you paid is the version that applies to that month, and material changes are announced before they take effect. Where this policy and the terms of service conflict, the terms govern.
